PARC Living

Reimagining Independent Living: PARC Living’s Brand Evolution

While PARC Living is a leading provider of premium independent living communities, each residence operated with its own logo, resulting in a fragmented visual identity that lacked cohesion. This disjointed approach made it difficult for clients to recognize and connect with the larger brand, especially as PARC expanded its reach.

To align with its growth and evolving vision, PARC partnered with Boyle Design for a comprehensive rebrand in order to unify its visual identity and sharpening its brand positioning.

Designing Trust: A Modern Approach to Independent Living Branding

Our team initiated a strategic rebranding effort to redefine both the parent brand, PARC Retirement Living, and its various premium residences. As we dove deeper into the project, themes of community, belonging, and socialization emerged as core values. We also recognized that introducing a family member to an independent living community requires an identity that conveys safety, security, and trust.

The logo design incorporated lowercase typography, selected for its geometric curves and approachable aesthetic, reflecting PARC’s welcoming and sophisticated tone.

A defining feature of the new identity is the ‘right angle’ graphic, an integral design element in the residence logos that make them distinctive. This subtle yet impactful detail grounds the text while symbolizing stability and empowerment. It suggests themes of possibility and independence, aligning seamlessly with PARC’s mission to foster environments where residents can thrive with confidence and dignity.

The typography in PARC’s identity is a defining feature that sets it apart. The lowercase treatment of the acronym ‘parc’ emphasizes the round, open, and approachable forms of all four letters, reflecting the brand’s human-centered messaging. This choice aligns seamlessly with the company’s focus on community and belonging.

The use of Lubalin Graph’s distinctive slab serif further enhances this identity. Its sturdy, geometric forms convey security and confidence, while the close proximity of the characters reinforces a sense of cohesion and trust, perfectly mirroring the values at the heart of PARC Living.

As part of the rebrand, we developed a cohesive outdoor signage program that ensures PARC’s visual identity is impactful and consistent across all residences. We also designed logos for value-added services, such as PARC Fit, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to resident wellness and enriched living. To support the growing portfolio, we created a marketing standards guide to equip the in-house team with tools to promote PARC’s expanding network effectively.

From Recognition to Expansion: The Impact of a Cohesive Brand

The rebranding of PARC Living has elevated its market positioning with a cohesive and distinctive logo system, ensuring visual continuity across all residences. This bold and modern identity has strengthened brand recognition and set PARC apart in the independent living sector. The streamlined branding has been instrumental in supporting business growth, enabling the successful expansion of new residences while fostering trust and loyalty among its audience. The results illustrate how thoughtful and strategic design not only reflects a company’s values but also supports its long-term business objectives.

Dennis Boyle is an exquisite designer and highly innovative thinker. He has a flair for innovative and brilliant designs that truly reflect the needs and desires of the intended audience. He is meticulous and thoughtful and truly sees design from every angle and possibility. I have worked with Dennis on Island Savings Credit Union for its brand transformation, Pacific Arbour Retirement Communities (PARC) for its brand relaunch. I would highly recommend Boyle Design for creative brand strategy and execution.
