PARC Living

Building a Brand That Redefined the Retirement Living Category

PARC Living had built a strong reputation for premium independent living.

But as the organization grew, each residence operated with its own identity. What worked at the individual-community level had begun to work against the larger business.

Clients could recognize a residence without necessarily recognizing PARC. As the portfolio expanded, the need became clear: create a stronger parent brand without flattening the character of the individual communities beneath it.

The opportunity was to build a system that could make PARC more recognizable, more coherent, and easier to grow — while preserving the sense of place that made each residence distinct.

Creating One Brand Without Making Every Residence the Same

Independent living is a category built on more than amenities. For residents and families, the decision carries questions of trust, independence, safety, belonging, and quality of life.

Those ideas became the foundation for the new brand system.

Rather than imposing one identical identity across every residence, the approach created a recognizable family of brands — allowing each community to retain its own character while becoming unmistakably part of PARC.

The parent brand and residence identities were designed to work together, creating consistency where it mattered and individuality where it added value.

Making Trust Visible

The visual language was built to feel confident without becoming institutional.

Lowercase typography created a more open and human expression, while the distinctive slab-serif typeface introduced a sense of stability and assurance.

The right-angle graphic became another consistent element across the system, reinforcing ideas of independence, possibility, and place.

Together, these elements gave the portfolio a clearer shared character: contemporary, approachable, and grounded in the confidence people need when making an important life decision.

Building a System That Could Grow With The Business

A stronger parent brand only creates value if it can extend across the organization.

The identity was therefore developed as a working system rather than a collection of marks.

Outdoor signage created greater continuity across residences. Value-added services such as PARC Fit were brought into the same brand family. And a marketing standards guide gave the internal team a practical framework for managing the growing portfolio over time.

The result was a system capable of accommodating new communities, new services, and new expressions of the business without losing recognition or coherence.

From a Collection of Residences to a Recognizable Portfolio

The new brand gave PARC a clearer presence at both levels of the organization.

Individual residences could maintain their own sense of place, while the parent brand gained greater recognition across the portfolio.

That distinction became increasingly important as the company expanded.

Since the rebrand, PARC has added five new premium residences — growth the identity system was designed to support without creating additional fragmentation. PARC Living – BoyleDesign PARC Living – BoyleDesign
